also at about 1.30 there is a perfect example of how skateboards can suddenly kick your arse totally out of the blue!!!
i mean...look at some of the stunts he does on this video and rides away from, and then see how hard he slams here

first video is from 1993. john cardiel has got to be 1 of my all time favourite skaters. infact i will post some
more of his vids over the coming weeks. cardiel got really badly injured in a freak accident a few years ago
now and was told he'd never walk again...but within months he was walking and riding bikes! dude even
skates again now, though it's obviously very difficult for him to do so. look how he rips the marsaille hip.
dude skates so fast and with so much style. i have got an amazing story about cardiel at marsaille...
but i will try and find the video that goes with it and save the story for then!!! second video is a chill session
at the thrasher skatepark from some cardiels antihero team-mates.

Gorge Road New Zealand

The good gent Chris has arrived safely in Queenstown, NZ, is getting sunburnt, and is riding trails...lucky man....shame I didn't get a job earlier as that'd mean I wouldn't have such a long wait till I can go enjoy some riding with Jimmy, Lol, Nath and the Gorge Road crew

Have to say the place looks dialed, hopefully I can get out there the start of March and hit those lush looking lines - thanks for the pics Chris, thanks for the dedication from the Gorge Road locals 8}(

cold and dry

cold up woods, and kinda dry for digging. moved some mulch so can carry on little twisty line (have an idea to link a few things together here) and also worked on the new berm bit. rain forecast for tomorrow.

the first set of trails in this i've seen before...they're in a place called mellowpark a little bit outside of berlin. this
place looks pretty interesting, has loads of ramps, cement bowl stuff and even some indoor park stuff. tbh the
trails kinda look abit rough, and not that inviting to me here. but the way the whole city is surrounded by woods,
i sorta guessed there was very likely other trails around berlin...and about 1.45 into this vid there's a minute of
some other trails in some woods that look like a real nice spot. the music on this is terrible though!!!

fleur got filthy whilst me and kag moved mulch out the way for the landing of the monolip(th) in the pissing rain. using the mulch to make a new path from the gate up to the top of the wood, so you can't see the trails until you get up near the hut. plenty to do!

last weekend in november...

...and the trails were riding really nice! well they did for me, kag and stevo. seriously can't believe no-one else showed up today, surely riding trails during the last weekend in november was a rare treat not to be missed?!!! probably see you lot in march!!! ; ) (i hope that joke don't come true!!!)x

yup, tis bone dry up the wood again and the trails are riding nicely (perhaps abit on the windy side today). the forecast looks promising for tomorrow...so unless you are bob : ( then get up there for some late november trails action?!!!x

tis pretty dry up the wood...it might even be rideable over the weekend? me,kag and stevo did some digging this afternoon, but we really need to get some mulch cleared though because we are running out of things to do...apart from moving mulch, and i'd much rather move that with a digger and then build the fun stuff by hand. so who's up for getting the digger in soon and lets shift the bastad mulch that's holding up progress?!!!x

Gorge Road Jam

As the trails riding season comes to a close up here in the Northern hemisphere, or at least in England, things are just getting ready to kick off down under with friends from Queentown, NZ and the Opening Jam at the Gorge Road trails

Nath, Jimmy, Lol and the crew have been hard at work getting Gorge Road ready for their summer of locals roasting and vistors a plenty - hope to see you guys soon x

a year ago today a.l.v lost our much loved friend ben houghton. i know all your many friends thoughts are often with you. you seriously could not meet a nicer kid than ben. a sad loss. r.i.p x

last riding session of the year?

woods were alot more damp today than yesterday even though it hadn't rained...and with the rain due i think this may well have been the last riding session at a.l.v for the year? not bad getting to ride so late into november. now it's time to get digging and thinking about next year?x

all the work is in the bowls...

i've said it before and i will say it again...95% of the work on our jumps (once the mulch is gone too!!!) is getting the final shape in the bowls. tis hard work shaping the clay we have and making the landings flow into the lips. me and kag worked on this today and now it looks almost done...funny how it suddenly goes from being 2 separate things into 1 flowing shape. is dry up the wood and forecast is good...dare i say we might get a last ride before winter kicks in? : )
