yes weather...

well...that was an interesting few days in our wood. we had a digger and on saturday we cleared loads of mulch and realised even with a digger it's still a fookin pain in the arse! hate mulch. then i woke up early sunday and i'd never seen rain coming down so hard. me danny and chris braved the worst weather i've ever experienced in the woods to try and get the most out of the digger weekend. it was even raining inside the hut and was bitter cold and super windy. the branch on top of the 5th lip there could of killed me and chris because we were nearly under it. we were walking down the line back towards the digger together from the hut and i just happened to say to chris how much better kags line looks since he'd done abit of work on them a few days prior. we stopped and took about as many steps up that line as the distance we were from where the whole top bit of the tree then proceeded to land! we had to just look at each other and laugh. was pretty mad. it's weird using the digger, good and bad in my opinion. we've done alot though but i can see there's now hundreds of man hours still left to get even the stuff we've started finished off. the wood is soaked and abit messy after this weekend. we all need to get stuck in to neaten everything up now...but we got alot more cleared space and a couple of big piles of clay to work with. check out the pool that formed infront of the monoli(p)th. that has to be at least 4ft deep over the left handside just off the actual line?!!!and check out the lake forming in the background of that pic. i've never even seen a puddle on that field before. oh yeh...and my back has also turned into a shell today and i can't really bend!!! yes back.

kag has been travelling around california. he visited the dudes at pows and helped patch up a few of the lines with them. kag loves digging!

got up the woods a couple of times this week with dan and chris. pretty flooded and still more rain forecast. resurfaced and shaped chicaned and nearly done the same with tree berm...but need another hour on that yet. luckily fleurs stupid face is covering most of what's left to do.

flooding is as bad as i've ever seen it up the woods, but it has rained a bunch (with more due still). danny brought george the staffy up the wood for abit which was pretty funny. did abit on the 6th landing in sunsets and also worked on the tree berm some.

was pretty tired so took it kinda easy today. lots of bluebells are growing in the wood where i previously haven't seen them, lots of grass growing this year too. calf is still in the wood with its mom, hooved up my berm again so had to rebuild that again and built a temporary fence to try and keep them off. resurfaced the 5th lip and landing in sunsets, i guess because it's so dug in it's hard to realise just how big that landing is?!!! is kinda dry in the woods again but a week of rain forecast after tomorrow.

just me and fleur in the woods today, well apart from the calf who'd found his way back in and brought along his mother this time. can't blame them...lots of nice grass growing in the top of the wood. they'd taken a stroll over the berms i'd fixed up though which was abit frustrating! fixed that again and started digging out some drainage in between sheltering from some rain showers. fleur fell asleep on the log whilst i dug and was totally snoring!

wednesday...

was a lovely evening up the wood on wednesday and i caught the last few hours of light and used it to fix the berms up. when i was working on them this calf somehow sneaked up behind me, dunno how long he'd being standing there when i turned around!!! it was pretty funny...would of expected it to make me jump but somehow it was so weird i just laughed. he stood there for ages looking at me and then decided to walk over the berm which luckily i hadn't packed back down yet. i let him out the top of the wood and his mom was waiting for him. was cool!

day 2 on the step-up. cannot believe how much dirt i've moved from in-front of this lip now without it looking that different!!! :D must be real compressed dirt because i've lost count of the barrows i've had out of it now. it is in reality actually alot different and will be better for sure. need to re-dig some drainage though now as it's lower than the drainage that was there. dan got stuck into his tech line which is progressing nicely! still forecasting rain for the next week... diggerdiggerdigger?!!!;D

While you're enjoying the heatwaves and snow back home, weather has been pretty stable here, enough to ride every day for the last couple of weeks anyways...last day to ride today, I leave Queenstown tomorrow, one night in Auckland, then off to the states
